Fishing, Hunting

Team Name: Team Sage Environmental

Partner Name: Clint Simmons

Technique Strength: Catching fish in dirty water. Grinding out fishing in tough conditions.

Technique Weakness: Deep water fishing for sure. 90% of the time I'm fishing in a couple feet or water or less in shallow lakes or flats. Going to a place like Galveston and having to fish deep water is tough.

Favorite Bay or Water: I love home waters of San Antonio Bay because my dad and I have spent countless hours and days fishing it since I was a little kid. I know it like the back of my hand. I also love fishing East Matagorda Bay year around for big speckled trout.

Least Favorite Bay or Water: I don't enjoy fishing Galveston Bay for sure. Always rough, I don't do much deep water fishing, and it's a long drive from where I live.

Favorite Bait: Berkley Gulp Shrimp. It can be used under a cork, with a jighead, or rigged weedless. Very versatile bait.

Favorite Rod: Any custom made by Poc Rod & Gun

Favorite Knot: Loop knot. It provides more movement and action on a topwater or jighead.

Favorite Boat: 23' Shoalwater Cat. This boat is the best of both worlds. It allows me access to the shallowest of ponds as well as being able to take mid bay chop well.

Started Fishing At the Age Of:Very young. My father was a commercial shrimper until I was 7 before moving on to work at Dow Chemical. I was raised on a shrimpboat and remember at a young age going fishing on his wooden skiff catching redfish in the area lakes.

Started Fishing Tournaments at the Age Of: 29

Do you get nervous before tournaments? The first year is would get nervous before tournaments. Now it's more excitement and anticipation.

Largest Slot Redfish caught to date: 9.2lbs

Your most memorable fishing moment: Winning the 2012 Texas Redfish Series stop out of The Sanctuary. It was my first professional style tournament and my partner and I won it.

Your biggest fishing influence: Definitely my father. He has made me the fisherman I am today. He's spent countless hours taking me fishing from a young age and showing me areas and techniques for catching redfish.
